Tutor Job-Description
Franklin After-School Enrichment
- Most importantly, be a friend to your child. Take an interest in their lives
and remember they're interested in yours. Listen to what they have to say. Make
sure they know that you care about them.
- Academic enrichment is a primary goal of the program, and most of these kids
need lots of help with these skills. Therefore, it is important that you work
with your child on something which is academic for the entire first half of each
day. If they don't have their homework, use the books, computers, flash cards,
and workbooks provided. Try, also, to go beyond their homework. If you see that
they don't understand something, don't just get them through it. Take the time
to stop and work on examples until they get it. Finishing their homework quickly
is not more important than understanding the concepts. Think long term academic
skills. Be willing to assist other children who ask for your help.
- Work with the program for at least a semester.
- Always be present from 3:30-6:30 on your designated day.
- Attend the field
trips and parent nights.
- Attend required FASE trainings.
- Follow the rules of the program and make sure your child does too. They are
set up to ensure safety and fairness. Be firm with your child.
- Be sensitive to the fact that we are visitors to this community. Treat
everyone you meet with respect and be willing to learn from them.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you have any questions, concerns,
complaints, ideas, feedback or anything to say at all
