The Harvard East Asia Society draws its membership from all those in the Harvard community whose academic interests focus upon East Asia. Our student-run, non-profit conference is the largest of its kind in North America. Previous participants have described the HEAS Graduate Student Conference as an invaluable opportunity to receive feedback on their research from distinguished professors and to exchange ideas with students around the world who share their research areas and interests.

*REEL* *North Korea: Filmmaking in the Axis of Evil*
Conversation with Dan Gordon, the British filmmaker who produced the following famed trilogy of North Korea documentaries:
*Game of Their Lives*, story of the North Korean national football team that advanced to the 1966 World Cup Finals (which we viewed together last year!)
*State of Mind*, story of two Pyongyang schoolgirls preparing for the 'mass games'
*Crossing the Line*, story of the American soldiers that defected to North Korea

Come join us in listening to Dan Gordon's account of his experience and impressions of this secluded country to which he has had unrivaled access!
A one-hour presentation (moderated by Harvard Professor Carter Eckert) and a 30 minute Q&A will be followed by a reception during which Dan's most recent documentary will be available (for sale at special discount and autographs!)
