Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and Chi Kung classes for the fall semester will start on September 17, 2002.
We are dedicated to the study of Shaolin Hung Gar Tiger Crane Kung Fu, Yang-style Long Form Tai Chi, and Chi Kung. We welcome students of all levels of experience.
Tiger Crane is the original southern Shaolin martial arts system of Hung Gar kung fu. This style is noted for its strong horse stance and powerful punches, integrating the power and agility of the tiger with the grace of the crane. As a Shaolin system of fighting, it incorporates the circular motions of the five elements (metal, fire, water, earth, and wood) and the movements of the five animals (dragon, tiger, crane, snake, and leopard) into simultaneously hard and soft techniques. For over three hundred years, Hung Gar Tiger Crane has been regarded as the most complete Shaolin kung fu system in China, both internal and external systems. More about Tiger Crane...
Contrary to popular opinion, Tai Chi is primarily a martial art. Tai Chi Chuan is one of the oldest systems of Chinese martial arts. It is characterized by fluid, evenly-defined, circular movements, which can be practiced quickly for martial applications or slowly for decreasing stress and maintaining physical health. Chi Kung is the martial arts discipline that interfaces external training with internal development. Through Chi Kung, students learn to develop internal strength and mental concentration that far exceed normal physical force. By involving the whole human physiology and metabolism, Chi Kung improves circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and neuromuscular function. It is often used to augment the power of kung fu techniques, but it is also the most fundamental tool for healing in traditional Chinese medicine. Practicing Chi Kung can even induce self-healing through exercising the internal organs.More about Chi Kung...
