MOVE-IN 2006
Damage, Furniture & Trash Removal
The following rules are necessary for safety, and to keep Adams House in good shape thought out the year. Please let Jorge know of any room damage at the beginning of the year, as you will be held responsible for it when you move out.
You will be charged for any violations of these rules. If the individual who caused the damage does not come forward, all suite occupants will be billed.
- No furniture of any kind may be removed from any suite. It has all been strictly accounted for and must remain intact. Any beds broken down must be reassembled when you leave. Also, the window screens, storm windows, and window shades are not to be removed. You will be charged a repair or replacement fee when you move out for anything missing or damaged.
- No hooks, nails, or tape of any kind may be used to hang posters. If you wish to hang anything see the Superintendent for the proper materials (poster gum, fishing line, molding hooks).
- Trash bags and toilet paper can be picked up at the Superintendent's Office; please take only 2 rolls of toilet paper per student.
- Any trash/furniture found left in the hall outside your suite will be placed back in your suite because it could cause injuries. This is a fire and safety hazard. See the Superintendent for the proper procedures for removal.
- All dishes and silverware need to be returned to the Dining Hall; please do not leave dirty dishes outside your room or in the public areas as this is disrespectful to our cleaning staff.
- No painting of suites will be allowed, and you will be charged a hefty fee for violating this rule.
- No partitions of any type are to be built.
- You may notice a small red box on the doors that lead to an adjoining suite. Breaking of these boxes will result in a $25.00 dollar fine, and will pose a safety hazard to you and your suitemates and to the adjoining occupied suite which means anyone can come in to your suite.
- Do not block any fire doors, as this is a fire hazard. Inspections are done each month and violators are turned into the Senior Tutors Office.
- The RED Phone within your suite is part of your furnishing. If it is missing, you will all share the cost for a replacement.
END OF THE YEAR MOVE OUT
- Storage that is scheduled for September 8th Friday from 2 PM to 4 PM is for members of College-approved Early Arrival student groups only (No Exceptions).
- There is no storage in basement corridors or stairwells; if any items are left in these areas, they will be considered abandoned and donated to local charities or thrown away. Leaving items in these areas is a fire safety hazard.
- Cooking appliances (i.e. microwaves, coffee makers, etc.) and halogen lamps will not be stored because they violate Harvard College Fire Safety Policies.
IMPORTANT MOVE OUT REMINDERS
ID CARDS You will NOT be issued a new ID next year. The current ID that you have is valid until you graduate. Please do not lose it. You will be billed $20.00 for the first replacement and $40.00 any time after that. Please remember your IDs when you return from summer!
MAILING PACKAGES HOME The College encourages students to send items home as early as possible. Complete information about shipping will be available beginning in May in the Distribution Center in each House.

Suites Students are responsible for leaving their suite in the same condition as they found it in the fall. All rooms must be free of trash and recyclable swept clean. All College owned furniture removed during the school year must be returned to the room. All personal belongings including unwanted furniture, books, etc. must be taken to designated areas for donation or disposal. Students will be charged individually or as a rooming group for suites that are left in poor condition.
Keys After vacating your suite, be sure to return your original coded keys to the Superintendents Office. Uncoded keys are not acceptable. Failure to return the coded keys will result in a charge of $25.00 per key on your term bill.

- Seniors must vacate their rooms by Friday, June 9th at 5:00 P.M.
STORAGE PLAN - SUMMER 2006
The College will store students' belongings on campus for the summer of 2005 under the following conditions:
- Students who live within 150 miles of the College are not permitted to store.
- Students taking a leave of absence, withdrawing from the College, or graduating may not store any belongings at the College.
- All articles are stored at the student's risk. The University assumes no responsibility for loss or damage. Students are strongly urged not to store items of significant value, or to insure them if they must leave them.
- Each student may store up to six boxes of the approximate size: width = 1', length = 1', height = 2' or equivalent to 12 cubic feet. Oversized articles (such as sofas, lamps, etc.) may be accepted for storage in addition to boxed items if space is available. Volume will be closely monitored.
- No access is permitted to stored belongings until the House opens in the fall (with the sole exception of undergraduates attending Harvard Summer School).
- Articles will be held until seven days after registration. If articles are not picked up within the week following registration, they will be treated as abandoned property. As such they may be discarded, destroyed, used by the College for its own purposes, or sold for the College's account without any obligation to the student for its disposition or the proceeds thereof.
- A small number of store rooms, used as classrooms by the Registrar, must be cleaned of student belongings by the first day of classes. The Building Managers will clearly notify the affected students of this requirement in the spring before articles are stored.
Those students who do not meet the above criteria for storage should seek alternate storage arrangements. Flyers with alternative storage facilities are located in the distribution center in each House and are on bulletin boards around campus. College fire safety policy prohibits storage in hallways (including the basements) at any time. Any items found in hallways will be considered abandoned and disposed of. Students are reminded that due to the volume of packages received at the beginning of the school year, all packages sent to students should arrive after Labor Day, September 4th, 2006.
