Liz is a fifth year doctoral student at the Graduate School of Education in human development and education, where she studies achievement, intimacy, and identity in college women. She grew up in Pittsburgh and then headed to Swarthmore College where she met her husband Dave Plante. She worked for non-profits and colleges in Minneapolis, Philly, and Chapel Hill before settling down in Cambridge for grad school. Liz likes reading novels, watching movies, writing, and swimming. Dave and Liz are looking forward to starting their fourth year at Adams with a new family member—they have a baby boy due August 31.
The daughter of a teacher and a fisherman, Katy grew up in Eastern North Dakota and Northern Minnesota, where she developed a deep appreciation for campfires, prairie sunsets, and making snowmen. She studied international relations and Spanish at the University of Minnesota, earned an M.P.A. in public policy at Princeton, and finished her Ph.D. in health policy last spring. Katy has had the very good fortune of working, traveling, and researching in places she'd never expected to go and meeting a host of interesting characters along the way, including her husband Thomas whom she met while they were both in the Peace Corps in Mozambique. Katy and Thomas’s latest and greatest adventure has been parenting their 1-year old son Paul, who would like to get to know each of you and show you all his latest tricks. Drop her an email, stop by Clav 4a, or catch the family in the dining hall to chat about pursing life’s passions and balancing personal and professional priorities.
