I grew up in Hopkinton, Massachusetts and graduated from Yale (in Chris Hanson's class!) in 2005 with a degree in Comparative Literature. After college, I worked at a resort in Maine and taught English in Chile before moving back to Boston to teach 6th grade Social Studies at Epiphany School in Dorchester Last year, I completed an Ed. M. at the Graduate School of Education in Language and Literacy. This year, I'm teaching 6th grade English Language Arts in a middle school in Reading, MA, which is a few towns north of Cambridge. Over the summers, I work at a camp in Maine, where I have taught swimming, led hiking and canoeing trips, and, most recently, directed the program. I love running and yoga, and this year I'm looking forward to picking up my IM career where I left off senior year in college. I'd love to talk to anyone interested in majoring in a literature-related field, pursuing a career in education, or finding interesting and non-traditional things to do after graduation, and I'm excited to get to know and learn from all of your unique interests and experiences.
I was born in Toronto and moved to DC in fifth grade and stayed there through high school, where I met Tim (who I later, much later, married). I came to Harvard as an undergrad, lived far away in Mather and concentrated in biochem, class of 2001. I also spent way too much time doing photography at the Crimson, working on patient advocacy issues and in lab. Tim and I took a year off after college and worked at NIH and got married. We moved back to Boston in 2002 and I started the Harvard MD/Ph.D. program. I finished my Ph.D. last year and I'm now returning to medical school as a third year student, and it's great to be back! Our son Ryan is turning two this summer, and he's looking forward to seeing all of you! If you like kids, please come meet Ryan. If you think you don't, he might just convince you! Also, if you're missing your pets at home, feel free to drop by Clav-6 and meet our dog Casey! I'm a premed tutor as well as a wellness tutor, so also feel free to ask any questions about those big decisions (MD vs. PhD vs. MD/PhD vs. making money) as well as any ideas you have for making people here happy and healthy.
