Movie night: Arrietty

The votes are in. We'll be holding a movie night on Friday, Nov 16th, where we'll be showing the film "The Secret World of Arrietty" from Studio Ghibli. The showing will be in Sever 103 (in the Yard) and run from 7-9pm. Hope to see you there!

storyboarding workshop

HAS and the Harvard College Comics Club will be holding a joint workshop about storyboarding. It will be touching on things like comic making basics, how to make a solid story out of an idea, how to create frames, lettering, a bit on how to draw with tablets, and other stuff along those lines. This is a great opportunity for illustrators who want to learn to write, for writers who want to expand their skills, and those who have never drawn comics but want to learn.
The workshop is being led by Emilie Pitre, and is happening on Saturday, October 20 from 4:00 - 5:30 pm in Sever 205. All materials will be provided, so don't worry about that.

Satoshi Kon movie nights

We'll be holding two movie nights on this year, in memory of Satoshi Kon, a visionary and brilliant filmmaker who passed away two years ago. The October 9th showing will feature Perfect Blue, and the 13th will feature Millennium Actress. Both Movies will be in place of the normal showing, and will be followed by a discussion about Satoshi Kon and his impact on anime.

VGO @ Symphony Hall

The Video Game Orchestra will be performing at Boston Symphony Hall on October 7th (Sun) at 8pm. There will be three special guests in attendance: Noriyuki Iwadare, Hitoshi Sakimoto and Kinuyo Yamashita. Highlights of the concert include premiering the brand new debut arrangements of their games like Grandia, Castlevania, and Final Fantasy Tactics.
