Dear Freshmen,
Welcome to Harvard! College is as much about forming relationships and pursuing your passions as
it is about academics. Hence BachSoc, the university's only entirely student-run orchestra. Our
musicians, conductor, and staff are all students, which means being in BachSoc is both an intimate
musical experience and an easy way to get to know your talented peers. Want to learn more?
Best of luck in your first year!

A conductor whose interests span Baroque performance practice and the championing of new works, Hugh Wolff—who conducted Harvard’s Bach Society Orchestra as an undergraduate—will discuss his career during a discussion/Q&A moderated by current Bach Society music director Yuga Cohler. Wolff joined the faculty of the New England Conservatory in 2008 as the Stanford and Norma Jean Calderwood Director of Orchestras, and has conducted a large share of NEC's College orchestral concerts for the past two seasons. In fall 2009, as Chair of Orchestral Conducting, he began work with students admitted to NEC for an elite training program. Wolff will conduct the NEC Philharmonia at a performance on Friday, February 4, 8 pm at Sanders Theatre featuring soloist Julia Glenn, violin, who is enrolled in the Harvard-NEC joint degree program.
