We've finally received confirmation for our court times for this week, and so we will be officially kicking off the season this weekend! Our times for this weekend are:

Saturday 9/19, 10 AM - 2 PM
Sunday 9/20, 10 AM - 2 PM

We will spend the first 15-30 minutes dealing with logistics (member introductions, collecting member dues, answering general club questions, etc.), and the remainder will be used for playing. Dues are $5/semester, which covers all equipment costs (including shuttles). For undergraduates, we offer the option of applying the charge directly to your termbill. Otherwise, we ask that you pay in cash so that it is easier for us to process.

Also, we will be providing instruction and/or training on one of the courts from 10 until 12 each day. If you've never played before, or if you'd like additional instruction to hone your skills, this will be the perfect opportunity. New players are especially encouraged to join in!

Finally, please remember to bring appropriate gym clothing if you intend to play (gym clothes, sports shoes, etc.). If you have a racquet, you are encouraged to bring it. If not, we will have some on hand to lend out.

Hope to meet you all soon!

Hi everyone,

We still don't have official court reservations due to issues at the Athletics Department, but in the interest of getting things started, we will be holding two informal meetings this coming weekend.

The meetings will be:

Saturday 9/12 10 AM - 2 PM
Sunday 9/13 10 AM - 2 PM

We will be on the 4th floor of the Malkin Athletic Center. For maps/directions, see our practices page: http://www.hcs.harvard.edu/badmintn/practices.php

We will not be formally collecting member dues this weekend, but if you're certain about joining, feel free to bring your dues, and we'll make note of it. Formal collection of dues will occur at our official introductory meeting, which will hopefully be held next weekend.

Hope to see you soon!

The practice schedule for the week of 5/11 to 5/17 is now available on our practices page: http://www.hcs.harvard.edu/badmintn/practices.php

Please note that these will be the last open gyms (official or otherwise) until the start of next school year. Originally, we had anticipated holding unofficial sessions during the summer; however, due to recent budget cuts, the MAC will not be open during the summer, and we will thus be unable to organize such sessions. While the Hemenway gym will remain open, the conditions there are not appropriate for badminton and so that is not really an option. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause - we had looked forward to having summer sessions as well. If a suitable alternative is found, we will be sure to pass the information along.

The practice schedule for the week of 4/6 to 4/12 is now available on our practices page: http://www.hcs.harvard.edu/badmintn/practices.php

Please note that the MAC hours are different this weekend in observance of Easter. The MAC schedule is as follows:

Friday April 10th 6AM-7PM
Saturday April 11th 8AM-4PM
Sunday April 12th CLOSED

Unfortunately, this leaves us with only one hour of gym time on Friday night. For this reason, we will not be having any official events, although members are welcome to arrange their own events during that time.

Open gyms should properly resume next week. Sorry for the inconvenience!

The practice schedule for the week of 2/23 to 3/1 is now available on our practices page: http://www.hcs.harvard.edu/badmintn/practices.php

If there is enough interest, I will provide some basic instruction (how to hold the racquet, basic shots) during portions of those times. Please e-mail alin [AT] fas [DOT] harvard [DOT] edu if you are interested in receiving such training. There will always be at least one court open for general play.

Hope to see you this weekend!

The practice schedule for the period of 02/16/09 -02/22/09 has been updated. The schedule can be viewed here: http://www.hcs.harvard.edu/badmintn/practices.php.

Please note that the only court time available this week is Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, during which time a friendly tournament between Harvard and Waltham Badminton Club will be held. Thus, there will be no courts available for casual play. As for the match, any interested participants should email a board member so we can gauge the number of matches that will be played. Of course, everyone is welcomed to come and watch!

Lastly, if you have not paid your $5 member dues for the spring term, please arrange to do so at your earliest convenience. Lauren, Abraham and I will be at all practices to take care of logistics. If you are not sure if you have paid or have any general questions, please e-mail badmintn [AT] hcs [DOT] harvard [DOT] edu.

Hope to see you this weekend!
