Writer and Editor of Science Magazine’s The Gonzo Scientist

Seminar Topic Bioethics and the Media: Why we journalists get it wrong, and how you can help
The vast majority of people learn about bioethical issues from the news media.  Journalists like me are the gatekeepers of information between academics and the public.  We slice, crush, and reshape information before it reaches society, and often the first casualties are the ethical aspects of complex scientific and medical problems. We can do better, with your help.

Participants in this seminar will get the chance to cover the conference as journalists, and the coverage will be shared with all conference attendees by the end and published online. There's just no better way of explaining the dilemma faced by the media in covering bioethics than such a hands-on experience.
