Seminar TopicGlobal Access to Pharmaceuticals: Testing Intellectual Property Rights Against the Teachings of Jesus
Global pharmaceutical markets are subject to both abundance and scarcity. While many people have the wealth to deliver medicines that can prolong or enhanced life, most of humanity does not have access to such medicine. Due to the high prices of patented drugs, the global poor often never see most life-saving drugs. Many ethical and legal issues surround the issue of global access to pharmaceuticals. This seminar will make ethical observations on this issue with special emphasis on the parable of the Good Samaritan.
