The Freshman Guide to Chemistry & Related Fields
Every year, the Harvard Chem Club compiles a Freshman Guide to help first-years interested in chemistry and other science concentrations at Harvard. The Guide includes information on finding science resources at Harvard, tips on choosing courses and studying, and advice on doing research. The 2007-2008 Freshman Guide just came out, and it's better than ever. Check it out!
High School Chem Mentoring Program
The Harvard Chem Club runs a mentoring program in conjunction with neighborhood high schools, such as the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. There's an intro meeting on Monday 2007-09-24. Contact the High School Mentor Program Chair, Jon Steinman, if you are interested.
Summer Experiences Peer Advising
One of the great advantages of studying at a school like Harvard are the extraordinary opportunities to do research in first-class laboratories. Many members of the Chem Club are or have worked in labs and can offer advice on how to secure a research position. Stay tuned for a listing for Summer Experiences Peer Advisers who can answer your questions about research. In the mean time, don't hesitate to contact the Chem Club Exec Board with questions.
Chemistry Internship Opportunities
Chemical, pharmaceutical and biotech companies love to have Harvard interns. Stay tuned for a list of companies recruiting Harvard students for summer internships.
Harvard/MIT Chemistry Clubs
Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are two of the world's leading academic institutions. Though separated geographically only by a few miles, participation between Harvard and MIT in academics and social events is often limited. For years, this has been the case with the respective universities' chemistry clubs. In 2004, the Harvard Chem Club announced a new initiative to get to know our neighbors down the street better. Through socials, faculty dinners, and talks by prominent figures in chemistry we hope to build a strong and healthy relationship with the MIT ClubChem.
