Harvard & The NetherlandsAs president Bok noted in a commemorative volume on the 350th anniversary of Harvard University, the ties between Harvard and the Netherlands date back to Harvard's earliest years. Several of Harvard's founders had earlier gone to Holland to found Puritan colleges and John Adams was sent to Holland as the first American ambassador. By accommodating the needs of Dutch community at Harvard, the Harvard Dutch Cultural Society embodies the historic ties between Harvard and the Netherlands today. Our activities include social gatherings for the Dutch community, language events for students of Dutch language and literature, and University-wide events featuring prominent Dutch speakers - like Geert Mak and Ayaan Hirsi Ali- visiting the US. UPCOMING: Friday June 13th, 2:45pm, Netherlands - France, Phoenix Landing, 512 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA.
