On Sunday March 25th 2012 the Environmental Action Committee hosted the Sustainability Collaborative Luncheon in the SOCH. The purpose of this luncheon was to brainstorm concrete actions that Harvard could take to improve its institutional sustainability. The collaboration was facilitated with small groups focusing on a broad topic, such as food, jobs, transportation, etc. About 25 students from environmental groups across FAS and graduate schools gathered to work on an action plan that we plan to compile into a referendum to be released to the Harvard administration and community.
This event was an effort to raise awareness and enthusiasm for the Harvard Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goal. In 2008, the University challenged itself to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% below a 2006 baseline by 2016 including growth. Read more about the GHG goals here.
Check back for more information and a completed referendum soon!
