Quote of the week...

"This is the last straw for many students at Harvard, who are now asking whether they want to continue to pay for a dysfunctional
organization that wastes their money and speaks for them without their
permission."

- from HRC's press release condemning the UC's vote in favor of the "Living Wage" campaign, available here www.harvardgop.org/Documents/ucstatement.doc

We'll be discussing the (bad) law and economics behind the Kelo v. New London Supreme Court decision that allowed governments to use eminent domain to encourage private economic development.

V. HRC Alum Declares for Alaska Rep. Seat! - HRC Alum Matt Moon '05 has declared his intent to run for a seat in the Alaska State Legislature. Matt was an active member of HRC and an excellent debater on behalf of the club. We look forward to his victory in the Nov. 7th elections next year! Sign the Petition for the Pledge of Allegiance - The Pledge of Allegiance as it currently stands affirms the fundamental American value of belief in God, and needs to continue to do so. Belief in God is not only the basis of our social values, it is also the basis of the social contract on which our democracy is founded. U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton disagrees, and ruled the Pledge unconstitutional this past September. Sign the petition in favor of the Pledge: http://www.gopusa.com/activist/petitions/petition.php?petition=050914_pledge
