I.

I. Students for Candidates Debate - Wednesday, 8 PM Sever 106
Unsatisfied with last Wednesday's deate on the big screen in the IOP Forum? Want to hear direct answers to the toughest questions the GOP candidates face from the students at Harvard who know them best? Join the HRC for a debate between the leaders of Students for Giuliani, Romney, McCain, Huckabee, Thompson, and Ron Paul to be held this Wednesday, December 5 at 8pm in Sever 306. Can Giuliani answer questions about his abortion stance? What does Romney truly believe? Does Thompson have the motivation to go the distance? Is Huckabee really the only true conservative? Can Ron Paul win in the general election? Get a chance to grill the group leaders with your own questions! Contact VP for Campaigns and Activism Colin Motley ( cmotley@fas.harvard.edu) with any questions.

II. Come Campaign for Ron Paul this Friday Harvard Students for Ron Paul will do some campaigning on Friday on the Harvard Campus. It'll be fun and easy. We'll start around 10am and go until the early afternoon. If you'd like to help out for any portion of that time please email teixeira@fas.harvard.edu

III. HRC General Board Meeting with Special Guest Meghan O'Sullivan- 12/12
Meghan O'Sullivan will be joining us for our last meeting of the semester. O'Sullivan is an IOP fellow and was Special Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Iraq and Afghanistan. She was stationed in Baghdad, Iraq for the summer of 2007 at the request of the President, U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker, and the Commanding General. Come here her story on Wednesday, December 12 at 9 pm. Location TBA. Contact VP for Speakers and Political Discourse Michelle Parilo (MParilo@fas.harvard.edu).

IV. Last Campaign Trip on Saturday, Dec. 15

As the primary campaign in New Hampshire wraps up, the HRC is taking one last trip to Manchester to help out the GOP primary candidates! This is potentially your last chance to help your candidate, whether it be Giuliani, Romney, McCain, Thompson, Huckabee, or Ron Paul, win the Republican nomination and prevail as the GOP candidate for the 2008 election. As with our previous two trips, we'll be leaving at 10am sharp and returning to Harvard by 5pm. Please RSVP to VP for Campaigns and Activism Colin Motley ( cmotley@fas.harvard.edu) if you want to attend.

V. Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington DC Mark your calendars now - the HRC will be going to Washington, D.C. on February 7-9 to participate in the annual Conservative Political Action Conference and we want YOU to attend! Hear from incredible conservative speakers, like Arlen Specter, Newt Gingrich, Tony Snow, and the 2008 GOP candidate, meet fellow College Republicans across the country, and have a great time with your fellow Republicans from Harvard at the nation's premiere political event for Republicans and conservatives. The HRC will be subsidizing trip costs, so you can get roundtrip airfare, hotel room, and conference registration all for under $300! Email VP for Campaigns Colin Motley ( cmotley@fas.harvard.edu) for more information or to sign up. Don't wait - spots are already going fast.

VI. HRC Endorses Willey-Snow for UC President- Vice President

In a unanimous decision of the Executive Board, the Harvard Republican Club today announced its endorsement of Roy T. Willey IV '09 and Nicholas B. Snow '09 for the positions of President and Vice President of the Undergraduate Council. The HRC believes that Willey-Snow's platform of student-focused reform, advance budgeting, and advocacy on behalf of all segments of the student body offers the best chance for meaningful improvement of the UC, both for undergraduate students at large and for Republicans on campus, in particular. Despite their lack of experience on the UC, the HRC is impressed by Willey-Snow's enthusiasm and vision, and is confident that they will best represent the HRC's goals of enhancing ROTC's role on campus, including through actively encouraging the President of Harvard to attend the annual ROTC commissioning ceremony, providing sustained resources for conservative student groups, and ensuring ideological diversity in campus discourse. Members of the Executive Board also met with other candidates for the UC's top positions, including the combined ticket of Matthew L. Sundquist '09 and Randall S. Sarafa '09, as well as Frances I. Martel '09. While impressed with Sundquist-Sarafa's experience and promises to avoid involving the UC in political issues unrelated to students, the HRC has concerns with their dedication to promoting the advancement of conservative goals on campus, as well as with their plans for student group general meeting funding limits. HRC also appreciates Martel-Zimmerman's commitment to making the UC more accessible to all students, but is reluctant to endorse a ticket with a relative dearth of specific policy proposals. The HRC wishes Roy and Nick good luck during the campaign, and looks forward to working constructively with the next UC President and Vice President, whoever they may be. Please contact HRC President Caleb Weatherl (weatherl@fas.harvard.edu ) with questions. .
