This student group is just one part of WAPPP's brand new initiative,
The Initiative on the Trafficking of Women and Girls, at the Kennedy
School of Government . Please come and hear all about WAPPP's
initiative and learn about the international crisis of human
trafficking.
Karen McLaughlin is a nationally and internationally recognized expert
in victimology and victim assistance. Within the United States, she
has pioneered the development of state and national victim assistance
programs as well as improved the effectiveness of victim services in
catastrophe preparedness and response. She presently directs the
Massachusetts Human Trafficking Task Force. In that role, she
coordinates over 40 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies
and non governmental organizations in their efforts to rescue victims,
investigate traffickers and prosecute cases of those who engage in
this growing international slave trade. She is the primary drafter of
the pending Massachusetts legislation to combat human trafficking.
This is the first meeting of the Women and Public Policy Program's
(WAPPP) Trafficking University-Wide Student Group. This event is
open to current Harvard University students only.
II. Tuesday: General Board Meeting with Special Guest Connie Morella
Tuesday, February 26 at 8 pm in the Adams Upper Common Room
Join the HRC in welcoming IOP fellow Connie Morella to our general
board meeting. Learn about her time as a Congresswoman and Ambassador
to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. She will
have lots to share about her sound economic policies and there will be
an opportunity for you to ask her questions about anything! Also come
to hear about HRC news and share your thoughts on the club!

III. March 6, 2008: The Lincoln Day Dinner
The Harvard Republican Club will host its annual Lincoln Day Dinner on
March 6, 2008 at 6:00 PM in the Eliot Dining Hall. This year's guest
speaker will be Michael Steele (former Lieutenant Governor of
Maryland, Chairman of GOPAC, and Political Pundit), whose remarks will
assuredly be both entertaining and fascinating. Please RSVP at

IV. March 8, 2008: GOP 154th Anniversary Gala at Wellesley
The Wellesley College Republicans, in conjunction with the
Massachusetts Alliance of College Republicans, would like to invite
you to the GOP 154th Anniversary Gala. This is an annual event put on
at Wellelsey College in honor of the formation of our beloved
Republican Party. We believe that being a College Republican is
particularly hard during the pre-election and election school years,
and as such are excited to be hosting an event that provides a nice
venue for Republicans from around the state to get together, share
some camaraderie, and network.
This year the Gala will be held on March 8th, from 9pm-1am in Tishman
Commons in the Lulu Chow Wang Campus Center at Wellesley College (106
Central Street, Wellesley, MA 02481). The admission cost is $7

V. March 11, 2008: General Board Meeting with Special Guest David Yepsin
Tuesday, March 11 at 8 pm in Adams Upper Common Room
Join the HRC in welcoming IOP fellow David Yepsin to our general board
meeting. Mr. Yepsin is a spring semester IOP fellow and is a Des
Moines Register's political columnist. He is a dynamic speaker and
there will be time for Q&A. Please come to also receive an update on
HRC news and to share your thoughts on the club!

VI. RNC Internship
The IOP will also be sending a funded ($3,500) Director's Intern to
the RNC this year! They have extended their deadline to March 6th for
this internship. Students are welcome to apply on their own, as well
