I. Tuesday, November 18 at 8 PM: General Board Meeting"

Come One, Come All to the General Board Meeting with Special Guest, Professor Chris Foote. Chris Foote teaches Economics 1010b at Harvard and is the former Director of Undergraduate Studies in Economics. He served on the staff of the President's Council of Economic Advisors in 2002 and as an economic advisor to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad, Iraq, helping to direct the economic aspects of Iraq's reconstruction. He is also the author of "The Impact of Legalized Abortion on Crime: Comment," the working paper that proved false the argument that abortion lowers crime presented by Steven Levitt in Freakonomics. The meeting is on Tuesday at 8 PM in the Adams LCR. Please email Michelle Parilo (mparilo@fas.harvard.edu) if you have any questions.

II. Thursday, November 20 at 8 PM: HRC Elections

Interested in getting more involved in the HRC? Want to be one of the leaders of the Republican movement at Harvard? If you are a dues-paid member of HRC who has attended at least 2 meetings, you can vote for the new executive board. Elections for the HRC Executive Board are Thursday, Nov. 20 at 8 pm in Emerson 101. Check out the HRC's website (www.harvardgop.org) or talk to a current HRC Exec to learn more about the responsibilities and details of each Executive Board position. Candidacy declarations were due last week, but there can be nominations from the floor. Please come and vote!

III. Committees

Committee membership is the best way to immerse yourself in the day-to-day planning and activities of the HRC, and you can pick from any one of 5 great options: Press Committee (rwagley@fas.harvard.edu and bmaldon@fas.harvard.edu), Finance Committee (schlafly@fas.harvard.edu), Social Events Committee (misaacs@fas.harvard.edu), Speakers Committee (mparilo@fas.harvard.edu), and Campaigns and Activism Committee (alockman@fas.harvard.edu). Make sure to attend the November 18th meeting or email the above to catch up!

IV. Support HRC Alumni in Iraq

One of HRC's alumni is serving our country in Iraq, and the HRC is organizing a donation drive to send a package of supplies to him and his fellow troops. You can help either by donating monetarily or by supplying in-kind donations. President Emeritus Jeff Kwong (jkwong@fas.harvard.edu) will be collecting donations - email him for a full list of items that the troops would like to see in the care package or to arrange to donate monetarily. Jeff will also be collecting donations at the General Meeting on Tuesday, November 18.
