Harvard Graduate Student Council (GSC)
Welcome to GSAS!
The Harvard Graduate Student Council (GSC) is the voice of graduate students in academic, administrative and residential matters for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) at Harvard University. We are the channel through which student concerns are brought to the attention of the deans and administrative staff of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. It is essential that we hear the concerns of graduate students, and we welcome any suggestions, comments, complaints, etc. that you wish to make! In addition to its representative function, the GSC also organizes a number of events during the year, we award grants for travel and research to students, we sponsor GSAS student organizations, and provide services such as computing facilities and free laser printing in the Library of Dudley House, the Graduate Student Center. See more information here and our brochure here.
Mentoring Awards Announcement
The Graduate Student Council (GSC) is pleased to announce the recipients of the tenth annual Everett Mendelsohn Excellence in Mentoring Awards. The Awards Committee selected the following faculty members as this year’s award recipients:

- Thomas McGuire (Health Policy)
- Lucien-Castaing Taylor (Anthropology and Visual and Environmental Studies)

The Excellence in Mentoring Award was established by the GSC in 1998-99 to honor those Harvard faculty members who truly go out of their way to mentor GSAS students, honoring faculty for efforts in supporting, encouraging and promoting their graduate students' research, education, professional and personal development, and career plans. The Awards were renamed in honor of Professor of the History of Science Everett I. Mendelsohn upon his retiring from the Master of Dudley House in 2002. The GSC received a 1999 Program Award from the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students in recognition of the Excellence in Mentoring Awards.
