Washington DC Aerospace Trip

During September 23rd-24th of 2010 the Harvard College Engineering Society (HCES) and the Harvard College Aviation Club (HCAC) teamed up for a trip to Washington DC to visit prominent professionals and companies in the Aerospace Industry. The team consisted of 13 students ranging from sophomores to post-docs from Harvard and MIT.

During the trip we visited:

  • NASA Deputy Administrator Lori Garver
  • Col. Myland Pride, Director of Space and Missile Defense Policy for the Joint Chiefs of Staff
  • SpaceX
  • The Commercial Spaceflight Federation
  • The Aerospace Industries Association
  • The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum
  • A showing of the Hubble 3D IMAX
  • Lockheed Martin’s Global Vision Center

Thursday Sept. 23


5:15 am: Meet at Harvard Square T-stop to share taxis to airport

6:30 – 8:00 am: Flight from BOS to BWI

8:00 – 9:15 am: Bus from BWI to Hotel / Luggage Drop

10:00 – 10:30 am: Lori Garver, NASA HQ

11:00 am – 12:00 pm: Col. Myland Pride, Pentagon

1:00 – 2:00 pm: SpaceX Lunch

2:30 – 3:30 pm: Commercial Spaceflight Federation (CSF)

4:00 – 5:00 pm: Aerospace Industries Association (AIA)

5:00 – 5:30 pm: Check into Hotel

5:30 – 7:30 pm: Aerospace Happy Hour / Dinner

Friday Sept. 24


9:30 – 11:30 am: Smithsonian Air and Space Museum (Hubble 3D Imax)

12:00 – 5:00 pm: Lockheed Martin Global Vision Center (Lunch Provided)

5:30 – 6:30 pm: Dinner

7:00 – 8:00 pm: Public Transport to BMI

9:10 – 10:30 pm: Flight from BWI to BOS

11:00 – 2:00 am: Trip after party
