Hello, my name is  __________, and I’m a resident of   (city, state)  .   I’m calling with regard to the genocide occurring in Darfur, Sudan and the spillover of conflict into eastern Chad and the Central African Republic.  I strongly urge Representative ______ to support House Resolution 1011, which urges President Bush to stick to his promises:

  • First, by pressing the UN Security Council to implement sanctions against the Government of Sudan for its "aggression and destructive activities in Chad and the region" and
  • Second, by continuing U.S. humanitarian assistance to the refugees and internally displaced persons in that area.
A comprehensive strategy for the region is urgently needed to resolve this humanitarian crisis. Please tell the Representative to co-sponsor Resolution 1011 and ensure Darfuri civilians and those in neighboring countries are protected. Thank you.

Hello, my name is  __________, and I’m a resident of   (city, state)  .   I’m calling because there is devastating genocide occurring in Darfur, Sudan, and you have an obligation as President to stop it.

President Bush, I strongly urge you to support Ambassador Williamson by assembling a diplomatic team with a full-time presence in Sudan that is devoted to the issues of Darfur and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

Second, at the end of last year, you signed the Sudan Accountability and Divestment Act into law but have not enforced its provisions. As the Chief Executive, you are responsible for ensuring that the federal government prohibits any and all contracts with the worst offending companies supporting the Sudanese genocide.

Finally, we need an international strategy to end this crisis. Please:

  • press the Chinese government for more forceful and meaningful engagement with Sudan, its close business partner;
  • ensure that the UNAMID peacekeeping mission is fully deployed and give other countries the funds to purchase sorely-needed transport helicopters;
  • and fully cooperate with the International Criminal Court, making available all relevant US intelligence so it can effectively prosecute Sudanese war criminals. Thank you.
