The Board of Directors exists to preserve continuity between shows, and is composed exclusively of Harvard-Radcliffe undergraduates. We are responsible for keeping HRG&SP running from year to year. This includes maintaining our relationship with our patrons, keeping records of past shows (all the way back to our founding in 1956), and organizing social events for our members (including the Wine and Cheese in the Fall and the Spring Tea). We have a vested interest in theater at Harvard, and we also collaborate with other theater groups on campus to improve the quality of theater at Harvard and to keep the theater community strong.
A list of boards of directors of the Harvard-Radcliffe Gilbert and Sullivan Players can be found on the History page.
Each semester, current undergraduates who participate in HRG&SP productions are invited to apply to join the HRG&SP Board of Directors. Applicants are asked to submit a statement of interest and a theatrical resume by email to the President. Interviews are generally held during the week between performances (usually, the weeks between the first and second weekends of December and the first and second weekends of April).
If you're participating in one of our shows, don't worry—we'll be sure to let you know when Board applications are being accepted. Any current undergraduate who has at least one semester of college left is free to apply, and you may apply in more than one semester if you are not accepted on your first try.
Members are accepted onto the Board without positions. There are five Executive Board positions (President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations, and Historian) which are elected by the Board each January and which last for terms of one year.
