It is one of the goals of HRG&SP to be a resource for theater groups at Harvard, both through its physical resources (props, costumes, orchestra) and its knowledge (we have some of the best people in technical theater on campus). If you think the resources of the Harvard-Radcliffe Gilbert and Sullivan Players could be useful to you or your theater group, please contact the president with your inquiry.
In the spirit of promoting a more unified atmosphere and a sense of community among the many performing arts groups on campus, the Harvard-Radcliffe Gilbert & Sullivan Players awarded its Performing Arts Grant to two shows last fall:
Before it Hits Home: November 4-6, 2004 in the Adams House Pool Theater
Caligula: December 9-18, 2004 in the Loeb Experimental Theater
The purpose of this grant is to encourage and facilitate more innovative theatrical design that would not otherwise be possible without additional funds.
Various stock costumes are in storage (maiden dresses, pirate gear, Japanese-inspired suits and kimonos, and, of course, a wide array of hats). Select props are also in storage: spears, billy clubs, facke food, flowers, gravestones, a small cannon, etc.). Pit orchestral resources include two timpani, a bass drum with attached cymbal, a triangle, assorted strikers. In addition, we have a set of 25-30 stands and stand lights for use in the pit. Please contact hrgsp@hcs.harvard.edu for loan/rental arrangements.
