What is HSMBB?
Formed in the fall of 2002, HSMBB is an undergraduate organization that fosters exchange across disciplines: among students who are formally involved in MBB tracks (biology: neurobiology, psychology, philosophy, computer science, history of science, biological anthropology, and linguistics) or else informally interested in MBB-related topics and courses. HSMBB provides a variety of social, academic, and intellectual opportunities including but not limited to weekly dinner meetings, meals with faculty members, "the science behind the movie" nights, field trips, peer academic advising, and special symposia. top

What is MBB, and how is it different from HSMBB?
The Mind/Brain/Behavior (MBB) Interfaculty Initiative is an umbrella program at Harvard University that administers the MBB tracks within the Harvard College undergraduate concentrations of biology, psychology, philosophy, computer science, history of science, biological anthropology, and linguistics; it also includes graduate and faculty research initiatives. Find out more at http://mbb.harvard.edu. The Harvard Society for Mind, Brain, and Behavior (HSMBB) is an undergraduate organization affiliated with the MBB program and interested in MBB-related topics. top

Who can come to meetings and events?
All undergraduates interested in MBB-related disciplines, regardless of concentration and class year or experience with MBB subjects, are encouraged to attend. Newcomers are welcome to attend their first meeting anytime. While this is primarily an undergraduate organization, other members of the Harvard community are welcome at our meetings and especially at special events. top

What do I have to do to become a member?
There is no comp or formal membership process for HSMBB, and events are not members-only. However,
we encourage members to participate in weekly meetings and other events as much as possible, and leadership positions are available for those with a demonstrated commitment to HSMBB. top

How much of a commitment is HSMBB?
HSMBB can be as little or as much of a commitment as you want it to be; members can come to as many or as few meetings and events as they are interested in. All are strongly encouraged to attend our regular dinner meetings as often as they are able. Special events like movie nights may replace that week's meeting, and extra help is always needed when HSMBB is planning a big event! top

How can I get more involved in HSMBB?
First, come to regular meetings - you can get involved in all stages of planning HSMBB events and help
determine future directions for the organization. Beyond that, you are encouraged to give an informal presentation at a meeting, invite a professor for a faculty dinner, attend and run special events, or be a
part of the Harvard Brain team. Consider putting your skills to use in a leadership role. And you can always help by spreading the word about HSMBB! top

What is the Harvard Brain?
The Brain is HSMBB's journal of the mind and brain sciences. Published annually, it includes articles by student authors on their own research as well as other MBB-related topics. You do not have to be a member of HSMBB to write for the Brain, but HSMBB members are encouraged to get involved in writing, editing, layout, graphics, and all other aspects of the production process. top

How do I subscribe to the hsmbb-list mailing list (the main list for HSMBB events and announcements)?

How do I unsubscribe from the hsmbb-list mailing list?
Go to http://lists.hcs.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/hsmbb-list, enter the e-mail address you're subscribed with in the box at the bottom, and click on "Edit Options." You can have the Mailman server e-mail you back your password, and then you can unsubscribe. top

What is the hsmbb-open list, and how is it different from the hsmbb-list?
Hsmbb-list is a moderated list to keep it low-volume; hsmbb-open is unmoderated, meaning any subscriber can post to the list about discussions on interesting topics, swapping course advice, etcetera. Being subscribed to hsmbb-open does not mean you are subscribed to hsmbb-list (and vice versa) so make sure to check so you don't miss any important announcements. To subscribe, go to http://lists.hcs.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/hsmbb-open and enter your email address in the box. top
