FoHUCA Mission

FoHUCA aims to provide a network of communication and activities for everyone who has enjoyed their time with HUCA so that we can stay in touch with each other, and remain involved in and supportive of Harvard Cycling. This will be accomplished primarily through FoHUCA membership maintenance and communication, creation of forums for member interaction, and organization of an annual homecoming-type event.

FoHUCA is run and organized by the FoHUCA Board. The Board is currently composed of four HUCA alumni serving multi-year terms and the HUCA student president (“Poobah”). In addition to coordinating the alumni-facing aspects of FoHUCA, the Board acts in an advisory capacity for the current team leadership. Although the primary impetus, energy, and vision of the club continues to come from student leaders and members, the Board’s experience serves to sustain institutional memory potentially lost in the team’s annual leadership transition.

At this time, an additional goal of the FoHUCA Board is the establishment (and initial funding) of the John Allis Endowment. By working with current team members to establish this future funding source, we hope to reduce the club’s dependence on annual sponsorships. This tribute to HUCA’s long-time coach will free the team to focus more on John’s true loves: riding and racing.

If you would like to donate to the endowment or simply get more involved in FoHUCA, please contact Keith Hemmert (kchemmert at gmail.com).
