HUCA Training
To be ready for the collegiate racing season in March and April,
we train throughout the entire school year, believe it or not! Our
program allows room for both novice riders to learn the basics of
cycling and develop a strong foundation as well as for experienced
riders to extend their capabilities.
The Plan
In the fall, we offer a seven-week training program with each week
focusing on a different skill/technique. We also try to soak up
as much of the good weather as we can on our bikes to work in base
miles. There is a weekly mountain biking ride too for those interested.
In the winter, team training happens indoors in smaller groups.
When the weather permits, we continue outdoor training rides (We
ride in pretty much any temperature as long as there is nothing
falling from the sky). We do rollers, weights, trainers, yoga, cross-training
and workouts with big bouncy balls. We offer a spinning class once
a week as well!
In the spring, we race! We train during the week and race both
Saturday and Sunday. For training, we focus on strength, endurance,
and team tactics.
In the summer, rides continue! It’s a great time to get involved!
Many of us spend our summers racing USCF events, which offer plenty
of opportunities to keep the fitness during the Collegiate off-season.
