HUCA Training Rides

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6:25AM from Peet’s Coffee, 6:50 from Belmont Wheelworks.

These are fun, coached rides at a moderate pace. For September, October and the start of November, this ride will focus on learning skills: Bike positioning, Pedal Technique, Pace Lines, Cornering, Sprinting, Hill Climbing, and Contact Drills. By the end of this program, you will know or have reviewed all the basics about riding. Expect to improve! No one will be dropped. If the group is large enough, we sometimes split it into two differently paced groups. Our coaches, John Allis, Ed Sassler, Julie Idlet and George Kenty will be out on these rides (sometimes all of them, sometimes not...) Distance will be determined based on the skill for that day, but usually range from 25-35 miles.

Check the listserv. There are always people going out in the afternoons!
Likewise, if you want some company on an afternoon ride, post it to the list. Just try to do so the day before noon so it gets to everyone!

Tuesdays and Thursdays
Indoor training sessions have now started
7pm at the QRAc
where the H... is the QRac?
arrive at 630 to warm up.
Contact Julie Idlet (womens development coach) for details.

Saturdays
8:40AM from Peet’s Coffee, 9:00 from Belmont Wheelworks

Saturday rides are group rides. They are usually longer than the morning rides (40+ miles) may or may not be coached. Beginners are welcome. No one will be dropped. The group will ride out to Concord together. There will be options to go for longer distances (50+ miles) and for faster rides. Options may include riding with the Boston Road Club which leaves Star Market in Belmont at 9AM for a faster paced ride. We will also have special weekend rides to go apple picking in Harvard, MA, or to get some of the best ice cream in the NorthEast!
Keep an eye on the the HUCA listserv for announcements or go to the HUCA Calendar page to see what we have planned.

Sundays
Watch for ride postings on the HUCA listserv or post your own ride, there is always someone looking for a few more hours on the bike.

Note: All rides meet across the street from Wheelworks in Belmont 20 minutes after all departures from Peet’s Coffee.
