RecKlez, crica 2004

Recklez joins the college klezmer band scene with a mostly traditional mix of Klezmer tunes (Eastern-European Jewish folk/dance music) and Yiddish vocals. This 8–piece band performs in the Boston area and has been known to make Harvard students kick up their heels in dance. They have had the honor of being coached by various prominent klezmer musicians, including Hankus Netsky, Dave Harris, and Ilene Stahl.

    Christine An

Christine is a happy person with no peace management issues. As you can tell by her picture, she was most likely born in Korea and later smuggled into the United States in a jar of kimchi or a really big purse. It's hard to remember clearly. In 10th grade she played in the pit for a production of Fiddler on the Roof, and while she was really confused about why anyone would want to fiddle on a roof, she really liked the music. Maybe one day she will play on a roof and it will not be too windy. Also check out the Harvard University Band website. Illegitimum non carborundum!

    Daniel Steinbrook

Daniel was a fan of chamber music until he realized that chrips, trills, and kvetches don't fly in most classical works. As RecKlez's president, diligent webmaster, and fashion consultant, he makes sure that everyone is looking (and often sounding) sharp.

    Max Hume

Max once had an innocent soul, and planned to live out his life a humble scientist and almost religious Jew. But since he became exposed to RecKlez, he has, among other things, gotten a tattoo (viewable only upon request), worn various clothing products made from animal fur (with the live animals still attached - not an easy feat), urinated on John Harvard (his actual skeleton - or what was left of it when Max dug it up from the grave, anyway), and has vowed to support President Bush in every decision he makes (provided he is no longer President). He has klezmer to thank for his wholehearted plunge to the dark side, and now he intends to party like it's 5759! He plays the piano (and steel drums when the mood strikes).

  • Molly Moses '11 vocals »
    Molly Moses

Molly wanted to be an elf when she grew up - to wear long skirts, sing wandering tunes, and reside in a little hut in the woods, eating nuts and berries. As the vocalist for RecKlez, she has seen the first two parts of her childhood dream come true, and as a Folklore and Mythology concentrator sooner or later responsible for her own subsistence, she may be obliged to live out the third part as well.
