After a plane ride to Buffalo and a night spent exploring the area’s fine dining options, the HRFC rose bright and early to face SUNY Buffalo for the third-straight post season. Harvard was looking to avenge a nail biting loss from the previous season, and after a tenacious warmup, the team was ready to go.
Each team opened the first half with respective tries, and long kicks from each flyhalf turned the game into a test of fitness and determination. With both pride and elimination on the line, neither team was willing to give an inch in what had quickly become an uphill battle. Connor Heard ‘12 turned the momentum in Harvard’s favor by strategically blocking a crucial kick, and strong hits from Quenton Craddock ‘09 left more than one Buffalo player struggling to get up.
Tries from wings Khaki Burke ‘10 and Jonathan Kola ‘12 put Harvard ahead permanently, ending the game in a riveting win, 20-13.
