For the second time in the fall season, Harvard took the long bus ride down to West Point, NY.  This time, however, Army only played host as Harvard squared off against the Orange Men of Syracuse University.  With several players injured from the previous week’s game against SUNY Buffalo, the match promised to be an uphill battle for the HRFC.

The Orange came out strong, punching through holes in Harvard’s line to score two quick tries.  Harvard answered with strong running from the forwards to put the ball in position for a score from Khaki Burke ‘10.  But Syracuse answered once again and took the lead going into the second half.

Harvard continued to lag behind in scoring until the last 20 minutes.  Substitutions from the sidelines brought in reserves Alex Konrad ‘11 and David Tao ‘11.  Encouraged by fresh legs and some motivation by captain Nick Rizzo ‘09, Harvard finished the game strong with two scores in quick succession.  The clock ran out before Harvard could push through for their third try in 15 minutes, however, and the win went to Syracuse, 24-36.
