With a spot in NERFU playoffs on the line, the HRFC hosted the University of Connecticut for the final game of the fall season. Each team was eager to play, and after warmups, all 30 players took to the field ready to do their part in securing a post season berth.
Harvard was off to a quick start, scoring several tries in quick succession from the back line, in large part thanks to some expert ball handling from Jonathan Miller ‘10 and Dan Deighton ‘10. UConn came back with a score of their own before the end of the first half, but it seemed too little to late as Harvard’s early lead continued to build. Miller continued a strong performance with accurate conversions time and time again.
UConn’s notoriously big pack came out fired up in the second half but couldn’t retain possession as the Harvard backs continued to dominant. Strong rucking from Harvard’s tight five, along with powerful running from Quenton Craddock ‘09 and Nery Porras ‘09, soon tired out the visiting team.
After overpowering and outmaneuvering their opponent in nearly every category, Harvard ran away with the win, 53-17.
