Harvard played host to rival Yale in famed Harvard Stadium, the first rugby match in recent memory played “under the lights.” Record cold temperatures didn’t deter Harvard’s die-hard fans, who came out in numbers to cheer on their team.
Both the Crimson and Bulldogs started off aggressively, and each side struggled for domination in the rucks. Harvard edged out their rivals through strong performances by Teddy Barron ‘11 and Brock Corbett ‘10. Fantastic kicking from Jonathan Miller ‘10 put Harvard comfortably ahead heading into the second half.
The game slowed after halftime as each team struggled against the bitter cold. With the wind chill dropping below zero, each side’s back line had difficulty executing anything but short, quick passes. In the end, Harvard beat both the weather and their opponents to notch yet another win against their main rival, 33-15.
