Harvard traveled to rival Yale this past weekend, looking to end the regular Ivy League season on a high note. The HRFC left Cambridge early Saturday morning and looked ready to play after the familiar bus ride to New Haven.
The Harvard starting fifteen came roaring out of the gates, and Crimson leading scorer Dan Deighton ‘10 brushed past the Yale defense for an early try. Jonny Miller ‘10 came up with the conversion, and the game continued with fast play and hard hitting from both sides of the ball. Dave Renteln ‘11 blasted through the defense for a try of his own, and Miller once again made the conversion.
Yale responded after a series of Harvard mistakes for a score of their own. Jonathan Kola ‘12 sustained a neck strain before the half and was replaced by Theo Wilson ‘11 for the remainder of the game.
Harvard returned after the half determined to take back control of the game, and Jonathan Cummins ‘11 scored after a series of Harvard-dominated scrums. Dan Deighton suffered a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the game, but that wasn’t enough to stop Harvard from keeping possession. Jeff Overall ‘11 represented well for the forwards pack and had an impressive run to end the game on a Harvard score.
Dave Renteln was named Man of the Match for his outstanding play.
Final Score: Harvard 26, Yale 7
