While SOL’s purpose does not revolve around competition, Harvard is trying to send a team to compete at a national poetry slam for the first time this year.
Information provided by :
Slam poetry is form of performance poetry that occurs within a competitive poetry event, called a “slam,” at which poets perform their own poems that are judged on a numeric scale by randomly picked members of the audience.
Each year, ACUI produces the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational (CUPSI) offering an opportunity for campuses with new or existing Poetry Slam programs to compete for top honors and to share their wit and talent. And everyone is enriched by sharing poetry, embracing the value of inclusivity, and supporting a program in which “Everyone’s voice is welcome.”
The 11th College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational will be in California at the University of La Verne, April 18-21, 2012.
Sending Harvard’s CUPSI team requires significant funds. So please visit our Donate page to make a donation today!
