Friday Night Lights: Texas Annexation Celebration!

Hello fellow Texans and Texas enthusiasts!!!

On October 13th, 1845, voters in Texas overwhelmingly approved an ordinance to accept annexation into the United States.

In honor of this momentous occasion, Texas Club will be hosting a Pregame on Friday October 12th, from 8:30pm-10:30pm in Prescott 20A room 16

(Go to the courtyard behind the building and use the staircase on the right-hand side)
It will be a super awesome way to celebrate the decision to annex Texas and serve as a very important reminder to vote in the upcoming election!
Prepare yourself for great food and drink. There will be MARGARITAS and homemade GUACAMOLE!
See y’all there,
<3 Texas Club

Upcoming Events

Friends, Texans, Countryfolk,

Thank you to everyone who turned out for our margarita event last Friday!  Though it took a while to clean up the (several) margaritas spilled through the course of the merrymaking, it was good to see new and familiar faces alike.
We have exciting updates & announcements to run by you for the coming weeks:
1) This Friday (September 21), we’re going to have a debate-watching party to view the epic showdown between Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Beto O’Rourke.  We’ll be gathering at Winthrop Standish 323 from 6:45-9; Shiner Bock and Felipe’s will be provided.  Will our Kennedy corollary be able to defeat Lucifer in the flesh in their war of words?  Or will the plucky punk-rocker fall victim to the rhetorical abilities his opponent honed at Princeton?  Whatever the result, my dear Texans, we can only hope our junior senator for the next 6 years will be able to work amicably with his Senate colleagues upon arrival at that most remarkable institution.
2) If you’ve enjoyed the Texas Club events you’ve attended so far, please venmo $8 to @TexasClub to help fund our future misadventures!  We promise that you’ll get a hefty return on this investment.
3) If you have any friends interested in joining the email list, help them get in on the fun and send them this link:  If you can’t get enough of your fellow Texans on campus and want to join the GroupMe, email for more info.  It’s a lot of fun 🙂
4) On October 18, the House of Blues will be hosting the Red Dirt Country phenomenon and songwriters extraordinaire, the Turnpike Troubadours!  If you haven’t heard of them, I would highly recommend you check them out: they are a hot commodity on Texas music scene, and their songs will make you want to either burn up your new Tony Lamas on the dance floor or sob uncontrollably into a pillow until Evan Felker’s lost love returns to Cherokee County.  We’ll be sending out an interest form closer to the date of the concert, but be sure to mark your calendars for what will be a memorable night.
1) Cruz/Beto Debate Watch Party: Friday 7pm Winthrop S323
2) Venmo $8 @texasclub for more fun
3) Join email list:; Join group me: ask via email

4) Turnpike Troubadours October 18, more info to come

We look forward to seeing you all soon!
Best wishes,
The Texas Club Board

New Semester

Howdy folks,
Welcome back to campus!  We hope y’all enjoyed the break, and have returned to campus refreshed, engaged, and ready to rage.
This semester, the Texas Club is going to be hosting three main events (some others might pop up, but we’ll let you know as those arrive).  They are as follows:
  • Thursday Night Lights inaugurating the new semester is will be held next Thursday, February 1st, beginning at 9pm.  We still have a lot of great HEB snacks to finish, so we’ll take all the help we can get.
  • Next, the Club will be hosting a Texas Independence Day party on Friday, March 2nd, likely in the Pfoho Igloo.  Come do shots in memory of Sam Houston and try to recall something you learned about this historic day in 7th grade history class.
  • Further down the road, we’ll be having an end of the year celebration in honor of our seniors, sometime (you guessed it) near the end of the year.  Is this a ploy so Danielle and Berkeley can hold a party in honor of themselves?  Maybe.  Will we be going along with it?  It seems so.
In addition to these events, we’ll be holding monthly board meetings/club dinners that will be open to anyone wishing to attend.
Finally, and most dramatically, we’d also like to announce a transition in club leadership.  After a competitive election, Trey and I congratulate the new Co-Presidents of the Texas Club, Alyssa Salinas and Khai-Leif Nguyen-Hille!  While out of office, your presidents emeritus will still continue to help out so things at the club running smoothly.
Best of luck with the remainder of shopping week, and we look forward to seeing you all soon!
