Sale Surfing

Now that all our last minute gift shopping is out of the way and the bottoms of our Christmas trees looking sadly sparse once more, the real joy of Christmas–the dead-stock, everything must go, post-xmas cyber sale madness–can merrily commence.

At a time when others are complacently sleeping off their holiday excesses, jump the gun and head to your favorite online shopping emporiums for the best deals you will find anytime this year.

#1: Levi’s semi-annual sale

Need new jeans? Stock up on these all purpose Levis 511 slim-fit jeans at the iconic denim brand’s semi-annual sale (going on now). Opt for a dressier indigo wash that just gets better with time and washes.

#2: American Apparel & Urban Outfitters

These all-american fast fashion giants both have post-christmas sales worth checking out. While the tops and bottoms on both sites are still fairly over-priced, shoes, accessories and even grooming products are well worth scooping up while the getting is good. From beachy taupe desert boots to quirky sunglasses, sporty foam visors and organic cleansers, there’s something to suit any of your eccentricities.

#4: European Fast Fashion

Three of Europe’s biggest fast fashion retailers, Zara, Topshop/Topman and ASOS are rapidly trying to rid themselves of all their delightfully cheap, dubiously designed goods to make room for the next wave of uber trendy wares for spring. It’s officially open season on all the neoprene blazers, fringed skirts and semi-sheer anything that was too trendy to buy full price but irresistible nonetheless.

#5: Park & Bond and Mr. Porter/Net-a-Porter

Luxury e-retailers are known for incredible markdowns that lop whole digits off of once imperious price tags. While the goods on these sites are nowhere near cheap even at the height of sales season, if you happen to be looking for that designer label fix or have been saving up, studiously waiting for that one particular piece to go on sale, right now is the optimal time (wallet-wise) to indulge.
