Beauty Report: My Winter Essentials

Sure, we love Glamour and Allure, but sometimes the best products don’t make it to the front pages. Guess it’s advertising dollars that rule the world. So here they are, five fabulous products that don’t really seem, well, that fabulous, but are in fact, very fabulous.

#1: Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner

What’s the point of a toner? Other than getting rid of extra foundation/other residue that your cleanser may have missed (especially if you’re blending that foundation into your hairlines, ladies… hairline acne, need we say more?), it’s crucially important for dry-skinned guys and gals to immediately replenish the moisture lost during cleansing with toner, especially in the wintertime. That way, your pores do not close up completely on you, leaving your poor moisturizer no way to sink in. This is by far the best toner I’ve used – so gentle and refreshing, you’ll want to smooth this on your skin throughout the day for no other reason than to feel the “ahh” on your skin.

#2: Fusion Beauty Lip Fusion Lip Plump Color Shine

Excusing the long name, this lip plumper actually does what it’s supposed to do. The shades are also beautiful. For the quality that it is, $9.95 is a great price point. Not a big fan of the brush that comes with, I usually just apply the gloss with my own lip brush.

#3: Lancôme Exfoliance Confort Comforting Exfoliating Cream

Like we all know, exfoliation is very important (almost as important as sunscreen). And this exfoliator works like a charm. A simple formula that is just that, an exfoliator, without the fancy soap bubbles, it is also surprisingly gentle and hydrating on the skin. Smells heavenly, too. Your skin will feel like a baby’s bum.

#4: Clinique High-Impact Curling Mascara

Out of oh so many mascaras I have tried, this is it. There is no other formula that makes your lashes as long, thick, and unclumped, at least to my knowledge, and definitely not in this price range. At only $15, it’s a steal.

#5: Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream

Last, but definitely not least. If you have dry skin, or are living in a country with a winter climate, this is the ultimate moisturizer. Filled with glycerin-goodness, this cream is just so moisturizing, but feels so light. And with no fragrance whatever it’s also a great choice for sensitive skin.
