Met Gala: Fashion’s Oscar Night
As any fashion-loving student with a crippling inability to ACTUALLY study for finals can attest, this year’s MET gala (aka fashion’s biggest shitshow) which proceeded on the theme of Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, provided plenty of fodder for procrastination’s sake. In an attempt to condense this post to more pictures, less word vommit, I will proceed now with a briefly annotated summary of the night’s various wonders (and horrors)
The Bad
Anja Rubik in Anthony Vaccarello
Belly-high slit+protruding hip bone=not a pretty picture Ms. Rubik
Bianca Brandolini D’adda in Dolce & Gabbana
I’m just impressed she can stand in that thing…
Greta Gerwig in Prabal Gurung
minimalist Edwardian Lady-in-waiting
Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte
very PTA press conference diva
The fake tan… the pouf… the dress. Overdoing it much?
The Good
Amber Valetta in Prada
Statuesque as always.
Astrid Berges-Frisbey in Chanel Haute Couture
The peplum done right
Jessica Stam in Dior Haute Couture
sky-blue becomes the newly raven haired Ms. Stam
China Chow in Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture
A tiered confection from JPG
Rosario Dawson in Calvin Klein
Very Pre-Brad Angelina Jolie circa 2002
The Superb
Solange Knowles in Rachel Roy
best dressed designer-muse pairing of the night
Diane Kruger in Prada
I can’t even…
Hailee Steinfeld in Miu Miu
THIS is how to land a Miu Miu campaign
Lana Del Rey in Altuzarra
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Oscar look goes noir…
Constance Jablonski in Haider Ackermaan
A truly amazing color palette on a simple, sleek dress
The I-don’t-give-a-f*$k
Emmanuelle Alt in Balmain
I wore this to work this morning
Christina Ricci in Thakoon
yes, I do occasionally rock midi-length dresses with bustlines resembling mutant calla lilies
AND I DO IT WELL
Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren Collection
The vampiest girl of the night
Coco Rocha in vintage Givenchy
what Katy Perry wished she looked like
I realize you can see my ass and your welcome for it
