Attendees listen to the talk about "the web, the grid, and the cloud" by Ian Stokes-Rees on October 6, 2009.

Thanks to everyone who came to the third installment of the 2009-2010 HCS seminar series. The slides from the talk can be found here.

Here are the details of the talk:

Linux Demystified (Tue, Sept 15, 2009)

Attentive attendees listen to "Linux Demystified", the inaugural seminar of the 2009-2010 school year.

Thanks to everyone who came to the talk. We had a great turnout, and we hope everyone had as great of a time as we did. Feel free to download our complimentary PDF of the slides. Also, if you'd like to get your own copy of Ubuntu, go ahead and download the free (yep, free as in free beer) Ubuntu desktop CD image.

A few reasons you should care about Linux:

Migration and Its Impact on Users

You've heard a lot about HCS's Great Migration, perhaps even witnessed a few of the effects yourself.

Opening Hackathon on Saturday

Come to HCS's Opening Hackathon this Saturday from 1pm until (at least) 7pm in our office, SOCH 307. HCS's traditional year-opening Hackathon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackathon) is an excellent place for prospective members to jump in on an first HCS project, or for current members to work on major projects that affect the entire Harvard community.

Free food will be provided. You should come!
