About Harvard ABSK
Harvard College was established way back in 1636 with the charge that every student should “well consider that the main end of his life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life.” Asian Baptist Student Koinonia was founded in 1991 at Harvard to reestablish this vision, continue this pursuit, and win the campus for Jesus Christ.
“So what’s Koinonia?” That’s usually the first question we get when we introduce ourselves. If the word “koinonia” sounds Greek to you, it’s because it IS Greek–meaning deep fellowship and working together for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And despite our name, you don’t have to be Baptist or Asian to join us. All are welcome!
THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY
The students of Harvard ABSK come from diverse backgrounds, with a wide range of interests and personalities, with different senses of humor, different tastes, and different career goals. But we’re united by one thing: Jesus Christ. We have been touched and forever changed by the love and truth we found in Him, and we are committed to loving others with the same unfailing, unconditional love that God has shown us. We are inspired by the examples of leaders who are deeply committed and surrendered to the Lord, spurred on by the encouragement of peers who continue to mature and grow, and confirmed by the countless number of changed lives. Our mission is to raise up a student group on the Harvard campus who by embodying the truth of the Bible, can possess the radical, contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, and eventually the world, one life at a time.
FELLOWSHIP WITH ABSK
We’re a fun-loving group committed to Christ and to each other. We try to fill the four years here at Harvard with life-long memories and life-changing moments–studying the Bible together, praying, eating, sports, games, and just hanging out. Study breaks, retreats, shopping trips, Chinatown runs, drama and theater, mission trips, concerts… you name it, we’ve done it. Come join us!
