Adams House Pool Theatre Application Title of project: Type of project: Show dates requested (indicate preferences): Persons submitting application (name, address, email, phone): Names & emails of core production staff (generally 1–4 people, for the season-wide email list) Brief description of project: NAMES & EMAILS OF STAFF (note all undergraduates & Adams affiliates involved) Producer(s): Director(s): Technical (i.e., set design, lighting design, sound design, costume/prop design, operators, etc.): Cast: STATEMENTS This is the free-response section of the application, where you can talk about your vision for the show. It is only divided into a director’s and a producer’s statement by convention; if another division (or no division) is more logical for your production, that’s fine. I have put down some starting points below each statement. Most of these should be addressed, but it’s fine if some points under the director’s statement are noted by the producer and vice versa. Producer’s Statement should include the following: - Your reasons for choosing to produce the production/performance; - Why you feel the pool theatre is a good space for your production; - Your experience in theatre, particularly your experience with other members of the production staff/performers and why you selected them; - Your experience in leadership/collaborator roles. Director’s Statement should include the following: - Your reasons for selecting the production/performance program; - Your ideas for artistic direction and your approach to the play; - An overview of your ideas for the stage layout, set and technical design of the production (include sketches if necessary); - Your experience in directing and/or other theatre experience, particularly your experience with the actors and the production staff of the play. Likewise, if a show ends up with a loss (within reasonable limits & otherwise showing responsible financial management), that loss is paid from AHDS funds. IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT RIGHTS FOR COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL - Shows applying for the space must ascertain that the rights to any work in copyright are available and affordable. - All formal correspondence with publishers and copyright management companies should be handled through the office of the Interim Technical Directors for College Theatre, Tom Morgan and Elizabeth Dean, tmorgan@fas / edean@fas or 5-8675. College students and student organizations should not negotiate rights contracts, as those could be interpreted as obligations of the College. Additional information about rights may be found at www.fas.harvard.edu/theatre/. Please be aware that rights contracts usually take 4 - 6 weeks to complete (sometimes more); it is both a practical and legal problem to cast, rehearse, advertise, or perform a show before the rights agreement is complete. Therefore, you should find out about rights for the show now, and then if your application is accepted, contact Tom or Elizabeth before the end of the current semester to set the rights process in motion.
