Anime Fanfiction Links
(Still mostly Ranma)
And if it's not here, then it'll probably be here
at the Turnpike.
Soon to be going major revision. I'm going to try to do this like
Kendai's fic links--except that it'll be for fanfics from many different
series. What I'll be doing is going to the Anipike's fanfic link page
and classifying all of those that I know (Ranma, EVA, SM, AMG, Tenchi,
etc.). It may take a while, though....
Take the commentary with a grain of salt. It is, after all, just my
opinion.
Here are some interesting/useful/obscure fanfic links.
Fanfic Resources/Commentary Pages
- RAAC
Fanfic Archive--an ftp server in Canada which has every fanfic
posted to the rec.arts.anime.creative (raac) newsgroup, updated
regularly. It's huge! Note: You need something
that can unzip .gz files, since everything here is gzipped.
- RAAC Ranma Mirror Site
This is on the same place where DnR and DnU are located. The stories
here are in text format, not zipped.... Sorry, Ranma stuff here
only.
- Taleswapper's Fanfiction
Commentaries Taleswapper has managed to establish himself as a
respected commentator of Ranma fanfiction. (Right, he's got as much of a
life as I do. ^_^) Here's his page, filled with his opinions--and
reasonable arguments to back himself up. Agree or disagree, you gotta
check it out first. Of special note are his Halls of Fame and his essay
on Annoying New Characters (ANCs).
- A Guide to Ranma
1/2 Fanfiction--maintained by White Wolf; it hasn't been added to
for a little while. It contains short summaries for many of the Ranma
stories posted to raac. The links to the actual stories themselves go
straight to the raac archive, the first link on this page, above. Not
all of them work, though.
- FanFic Mailing List
(FFML) Page--There's a fanfic mailing list, where drafts of stories
are passed around for C&C, fic issues are discussed, etc. This is the
new homepage.
- The
Anime/Manga Fanfiction Index--A large listing of anime fanfic pages
out there. Large Ranma section.
- FFML Fun
Critiques--On the FFML, occasionally a fic will be critiqued in an
interesting manner: they do a MST3K type thing to it. They're pretty
funny. Come and see.
- Kendai's Fic
Links A lot of links here that you may not find in other places. He
writes a little himself, too.
- The
Reader's Choice Ranma 1/2 Fanfic Awards This is being run by Richard
Lawson and Nicholas Leifker, with Jeanne Hedge as the impartial ballot
counter (she doesn't write Ranma stuff). It's being done as an attempt
to break up the voting for Ranma fics (already done on an annual basis
by the folks over at www.tass.org) into more manageable, quarterly
chunks. Please, participate....
- Annual Best of Ranma Fanfic
Awards They've also gone monthly, now, plus they have a cool CGI
script that makes things easier to deal with. :) Check it out--my fics
have done well here, too....
Story Pages
- The More Things Change, The Pursuit of Happiness,
The Way Things Are (Bonus! Eight Days a Week) I'll direct you to my
"The" page, which handles this great set of fics. The links to the
authors' own pages about these fics are there, anyway. Why do the same
links twice, without good reason?
- The Surreal World
Another effort by RpM. Take MTV's "The Real World" and apply it to
anime. BWAHAHAHA!!! Ranma's the only one from Ranma 1/2 to appear on the
show, but there are frequent cameos by the rest of that gang. The others
come from Tenchi Muyou, A!MG!, KOR, Nuku Nuku, UY, and Sailor Moon. To
fully understand the humor, you gotta know those cartoons too. (For a
while, the only show mentioned that I had seen was just Ranma, yet I
enjoyed it anyway. Kinda indicative of how much time I spend on the
web.) Still, you'll probably pick up very quickly on those other shows
and understand them too. Check it out.
- Bailesu's
Fiction Page--John Biles, author of "Putting Your
Heart..." and the "Furinkan Summer" series and Sailor
Moon Z, among other well known works. Located on the same server as DnR
and DnU.
- A Lesson in
Love Yes, I know I've got the story in my archive, but this is where
the home of it is! Besides, the rest of Marisa's page is interesting,
too. Also, since I won't add anything new that she has done to my
archived story until she posts them to raac, you'll have to find those
parts on her page. Finally, she's been HTMLizing some of the chapters,
adding some pics to them. Nice!
- Daigakusei no
Ranma/Daigakusei no Ukyou (As You Like It)--Ranma and Akane (among
others) go to college; a series written by a whole bunch of people. Very
true to Takahashi's style. However...they don't treat Ukyou very nicely,
at all...grr. At least, they seem to be a little better about that in
the later eps. Also, at the same place is DnU, which runs parallel to
DnR, but focusing on Ukyou. Duh. (This is the reason that the authors of
DnR are only on probation at the Church of Ucchan's List of Infidels.
And the "As You Like It" reference I believe is about
okonomiyaki.) The two have recently been merged onto the same site, with
no frames. Much better design, in my opinion. Last personal note:
although it's considered "The" continuation of Ranma 1/2, I
stopped thinking that way a looong time ago. Rather, I give that
distinction to two other fics: A Lesson in Love and TMTC/TPOH.
Heh.
- Joseph
Palmer's Works If you want good Warm And Fuzzy Feeling (WAFFy) fics,
here you go. They're excellently written, really.... If I'm feeling a
little down, I just pop in here and do a little light reading.
- Bast!'s
Ranma Page By Sebastian Weinberg. Actually, it's mostly a fanfic
page (which is why I've got the link on this page). He's a good writer,
I think ('specially "The Voice of Experience"--sneaky bugger
indeed!). He is also the writer of Ranko 1/2. If you don't know
what it's about, go see yourself. Since he doesn't seem to post to raac,
not too many see his stuff--here you go. Warning, it's in Germany (but
the page is in English), so it might load a little slowly, even for
those with ethernet connections.
- Sterman's
Fanfics This is the home of Richard Lawson's stuff, including the
famed Thy Inward Love continuation, as well as its (now
completed) sequel, Magic.
- R. Morrison's Fanfic
Page A rather prolific writer out there. Here's his new page
address.
- Mikado Sanzenin
Fics Someone is actually writing about the Golden Pair--focusing on
the Golden Pair, not just having them turn up as random villains of
sorts. Actually, there are a few people writing them. Very
interesting.... In fact, there are a few fics here that actually make
the possibility of a Mikado-Azusa matchup feasible.
- The
Ranko Story Archive A collection of stories that focuses on Ranma's
girl half. Be warned, there are quite a few lemons here. >_< Some
of them are pretty cool. But I don't particularly like the
Ranma-gets-stuck-as-a-girl stories (either physically or mentally).
- Nightelf's Elysium
The works of Nicholas Leifker (who says that he's not posting under the
name "Nightelf" anymore...). Here you'll find the only
darkishfic (more like a sadfic, actually) that I like,
"Sunrise" and the Sunrise Chronicles. He's working on
some others, too. They're good; check them out.
- Kuno's
Fanfics Fiction written by Blade and Epsilon, two other deacons of
the Church of Ucchan. Here's where Ran-Wars is kept, for one....
- Zenki's
Page of Fanfics Never thought I'd be putting a link to someone at
yale, but here you go. ^_^ Three stories of note on this page: the as of
yet untitled one about Nabs falling for Ranma, and his Alternative
Reality fic (think "Ranma Muyou", in a way...)--it's not bad
at all. Recently started (but already on a good pace) is his second
Alternative Reality fic, entitled "Antithesis" (my suggestion
for a title, thank you, thank you ^_^), a slightly darker take but
really good. He also writes Tenchi Muyou, a bit. His page is now
on yale's main server, since his friend's computer is going home for the
summer.
- Spoof Chase Page
Spoof Chase Productions, a consortium of well known fanfic writers and
fan artists, devoted to writing fic parodies. @_@ Fun! Home of Lemon
Sherbert, for one.... Do not miss this. Located at the Maison Otaku server.
- Mark Doherty's Fics
The writer of the Ryouga and Ukyou alterniverse has his own fic page up
now.
- Chris Davies's
Works His stuff is mostly...Sailor Moon! Funny, though, I can
actually read this stuff and enjoy it. For mature audiences, though. No,
it's not lemon stuff! It's just that stuff gets dark here. It's not your
usual Sailor Moon.
- Jai-kun's
Fanfic Page Jai-kun is, of course, Jason Langlois, a fellow writer
and a net-friend of mine. Fellow believer in the Ryouga an' Ukyou
matchup! Heehee. He's also a recurring writer for Ranma 2096...something
for which I can forgive him. ^_^
- SKJAM!'s Fic
Page Ah, Scott Jamison, famed inventor of the revengefic (remember
"Sauce"?). Here's his new webpage.
- Hearts of
Ice by Krista Perry; a fabulous tale of...well, epic proportions.
Starts out a little slow, but gets really good. The Japanese mythology
involved makes it very interesting. Find it here.
- McKinley
Morganfield's Fanfic Thingy The source of Tales of Ranma and Nabiki
(ToRN, which kinda tells you something), and some weird, sick stuff,
too. ^_^
- The Sound and
the Furry Productions Inspired by the Spoof Chase net.group, a few
of us fanfic writers and fanartists (the underpublished ones) have
started up our own little group. Officially open for, er, business....
