TMTC-TPOH Major Character list by Andrew Huang This is true as of Act I Part 12 of TPOH. Last updated September 14, 1997 REMEMBER: There are many spoilers in here. Read on at your own risk. -- Takahashi's characters--these belong to Takahashi Rumiko-san. Saotome Ranma (17): He has finally has admitted feelings to Tendou Akane (although with a little prodding from some passion spice, administered by Mousse). He still fights with and insults Akane, but they're getting better about it all. Still cursed with the same curse. There was a brief misunderstanding between him and Ryouga about Akane, but all is well now. Also see Akane's entry. Tendou Akane (17): See Ranma's entry.... She also has learned to cook a little bit better, which really isn't saying much. Knows about Mousse’s touch, but believes it to only have been temporary. She is training with Ranma so as to get a decent shot in the upcoming tournament. She has befriended Muhoshin Kyoko. Also see Ranma's entry. Hibiki Ryouga (17): Now living and working at Ucchan's, with Ukyou, in the attic. In addition to that, he has enrolled at Furinkan and needs to be led around school by Ukyou (as well as the compass she's given him) to keep his bearings. He's assumed Ranma's old role of multiple fianceed guy with several rivals out to get him. Muhoshin Ryoko fell for him way back when, and announced herself as Ryouga's girlfriend. He has a new curse--same as Ranma's. He's able to do the shoryuken (from Street Fighter). He and Ukyou have been introduced to the idea of them two together many times by now. He's defeated Katsunishiki a few times, and has drawn the passing interest of Unryuu Akari. After a rather trying event, he declared himself to be a bachelor and not interested in anyone at all. He's since talked to Ryoko about it, and they are on good terms (though it seems that Ryoko has not at all given up on him yet). He has also mentioned to Unryuu Akari that there might be a girl that he just might like, but isn't ready to try anything. He has also noticed that he seems to have taken Ranma's place in Nerima.... Got into a sticky situation with Tanya Noori, where everyone thinks she's engaged to him, though she is in fact trying to kill him (as Ryo also is). Also see Ranma's and Ukyou's entries. Kuonji Ukyou (17): Has become a somewhat angrier person. Has taken in Ryouga, who now lives and works at Ucchan's. She is to Ryouga what Akane was to Ranma. She leads Ryouga around Furinkan to prevent him from getting lost (and gave him a compass to help him out, too...which he wears around his neck). She was present for the incident where Ryouga swore off any relationships and proclaimed that he was a bachelor. She has not particularly reacted to that. There is the odd matter of some sort of proposal between herself and Mendou Shutaro, requiring the permission of her father (overheard by Ryouga). However, nothing since has come of it, so it could be merely something related to business (franchising her restaurant, perhaps?). She has mentioned to Konatsu that she may be feeling a bit more than friendship towards a friend of hers (ahem), but knowing what it's like to fall for a friend, she's rather reluctant to do anything about it, at least for the time being. Also see Ryouga's entry. Notable Ryouga-Ukyou events: The two have gone on a few outings (not dates, mind you!), such as to go to the movies (Ghost in the Shell), and occasionally dinner. They were somewhat pressured to go to the school dance together, but both adamantly refused--as well as the fact that Ryouga got lost and didn't come back until sometime during the middle of the dance. Instead, Ukyou decided to teach Ryouga how to dance. In part 12, there is another kiss between the two...though both are mostly asleep as it happens.... Shampoo (17): She is now legally bound to marry Mousse, and has settled into an apathetic state of mind on the matter. Moving back to China by the end of TMTC. Still cursed. No sign of her yet in TPOH. Mousse (17): He pushed Ranma and Akane forward with some passion spice. Finally has won Shampoo legally (after also beating Ryouga)...but has yet to truly win her heart. Returns to China with Shampoo. Still cursed. No sign of him yet in TPOH. Cologne (300+): She is unhappy with Mousse, but is forced to accept that reality. Feels like making Mousse's life hell.... Returns to China as well. No sign of her yet in TPOH. Kunou Tatewaki (18): Has seemingly accepted the engagement between Ranma and Akane and given up on Akane. However, he still doesn't know about the curse, and still is after his osage no onna. Briefly gains Psycho Power (stolen from Ryo), but only for a very short time. He has encountered Katsunishiki (believing the pig to be a horrible ogre) a few times and has lost badly. However, against human opponents, it appears that his stamina and ability has appreciably increased. Kunou Kodachi (17): Now is also obsessed with Ryouga, due to a mistake involving a love potion. Acts like her brother in regard to Ranma and Ryouga, the way he did about Akane and his osage no onna. Otherwise, she's the same lovable psycho gymnast. She was present during the incident where Ryouga declared himself a bachelor and not in love with anyone at all. No reaction from her as yet. Gosunkugi Hikaru (17): He is finally doing some things right--to be the next great sorceror. Gives up on Akane, starts to build up his self esteem, temporarily gives up magic, falls for Ukyou for a brief time, gives magic another try (and succeeds rather well) and is out to get Ryouga for a short while, until he gives up on Ukyou as well. Gos still has far to go in matters of relationships, magic, and self-esteem stuff, as of the beginning of TPOH. (Still, he was able to purge Kunou and Ryo of their Psycho power, which supposedly was not able to be removed--only through accident, of course.) Takes an interest in Hinako Manami by the beginning of TPOH. His progress in magic has become marked--he lit up the gymnasium for the school dance (his date was Manami) with some glowing spheres (though the presence of Ryo and Kunou dimmed them as they passed by), and has mastered lighting, fire, and teleportation enough to give Ryo a very hard time. That incident was just after Ryo ruined the moment during a picnic that he and Manami were having. Speaking of Manami--they two are getting along very well now. Also see Manami's entry. Kurenai Tsubasa (17): Has gained knowledge of mecha and has started to use them in conjunction with his disguises. Still pursuing Ukyou at the end of TMTC, and is out to get Ryouga with his new toys. Potentially headed for bigger things with Mishima Heavy Industries (they want him for his design capabilities). He may be going away for a while, something which Ukyou really doesn't mind at all. Unryuu Akari (17): Shows up just at the end of TMTC, still searching for a husband and wandering around Nerima with Katsunishiki. She enrolls at Furinkan at beginning of TPOH, and takes job at King's. After a little more boyfriend-hunting with Katsunishiki, she finds that Ryo has beaten her Katsunishiki...well, kind of. Enough to qualify. (Ukyou and Ryouga and others try to dissuade her, but--no luck.) However, his seeming lack of interest in visiting the family farm has put her (as well as her grandfather) a bit off. She does find herself somewhat interested in Ryouga since he beat Katsunishiki a few times. She has learned that Ryouga was once interested in Akane, and that he may be interested in someone else. Also see Ryo's entry. Happosai (300+): Hospitalized (second time) in very bad shape at the end of TMTC. Had been unable to heal quickly because of a lack of panties or females within glomping range. In fact, he's trussed down and sealed behind many Shinto wards, etc. However, by Act I Part 2, he has managed to escape the hospital and is back to his old stuff again. He and Muhoshin Ryo are having a bit of a blood feud. Kenzan Konatsu (17): He has finally arrived on the scene, in pursuit of Tanya Noori, who rescued him from his terrible stepfamily. He is madly in love with Tanya, and puts up with a lot of rough times as Tanya's helper in her ventilation cleaning business. Ukyou has confided in him that she seems to be feeling something more than just friendship about a certain boy.... He is insistent that he is not a he, but rather a she. Also see Tanya's entry. Tendou Nabiki (18): It's been rumored a few times that some guy named Hentaii (note, _two_ i's) Isamu is chasing after her. There is also the slight impression that she may be interested in Kunou, but nothing more concrete can be established. Tendou Kasumi (20? or 21?): She seems to have become a bit of a foster mother for the Muhoshins, what with her maternal nature and such. Indeed, she is the only person that Ryo treats with genuine respect. She's made dinner for them, in fact. There are no major changes concerning the Tendou Soun or Saotome Genma. Saotome Nodoka has not shown up yet, except in some dreams. As for Hiroshi, Daisuke, Sayuri, and Yuka.... Hmm. They've gained slightly more prominent roles, but otherwise are still part of the scenery. -- RpM's new characters--these belong to RpM. Muhoshin Ryo (18): He is the oldest of Muhoshin siblings. He had been out for Ryouga's head, but with the demise of the UWSMA, decides to let it go--at least, for now. Ryo wishes to set up Ryouga and Ukyou, so as to discourage his sister Ryoko. Had been under the thumb of the Lord of the Shadoloo, until his powers and link were taken away by Gosunkugi. Still is mistaken for Gos. He is developing the bakusai ten-satsu, a technique based on the bakusai ten-ketsu which utilizes a needle to explode bones (very messy and nasty). He is developing other, less important techniques as well. He accidentally defeated Katsunishiki (Ryouga threw Ryo into the pig, KO'ing the beast), and Akari has fallen for him. He's not quite sure what to make of all of that, but is now dating her. Apparently, he is trying to set up some sort of scam concerning her, but his tumultuous feelings about her are really messing with his mind. Has taken an immediate liking and respect for Tendou Kasumi. He and Tanya Noori are now rivals in trying to jump Ryouga. Also see Akari's entry. Muhoshin Ryoko (16): Second Muhoshin. She fell in love with Ryouga a while ago). Dotes all over him, calls herself his girlfriend. Plays "Ukyou" to Ryouga (the way Ukyou was to Ranma). She takes a job at King's, waitressing and dishwashing. She has apparently been dumped by Ryouga. The two of them have decided to be friends, but Ryoko is not quite ready to give up on him yet, however. Muhoshin Megane (15): Third Muhoshin. Hasn't done too much, really. Rather apathetic. Like Ryoko, he has taken a job at King's. He plays his sax there to entertain the customers. Once dated Tanya Noori. They don't get along too well anymore, though, apparently. Muhoshin Kyoko (12): Youngest Muhoshin. Much like Azusa (except that she has a physical age equal to her emotional age) and loves kawaii. Has shown herself to be a genius, sure enough, helping out Ranma with his homework. She is almost constantly happy and on a sugar buzz. Now taking lessons in bare-handed combat at the Dojo. She has befriended Akane, building on the fact that both have lost their mothers. Lately has been badgering her older siblings to get a pet...specifically, a big fuzzy panda. Enrolled at Furinkan as of part 8. Note about the Muhoshins: They are living at Maison Ikkoku, as of the beginning of TPOH. (It doesn't say so exactly, but you can figure it out...becomes more and more obvious.) Hinako Manami (17): She fell in love with Ryouga while he was still wandering the world searching for his identity, and now has moved to Nerima Ward. Very shy; reluctant to face Ryouga (who does not remember her, so far). Literally bumped into Gosunkugi at the beginning of TPOH, and Gosunkugi is the first friend that she makes here. Ukyou also befriends Manami early on. Very uncomfortable about Ryoko being so close to Ryouga--a bit like Ukyou in that respect. (Note that she is unlike any of Ranma's former love interests....) She is emphatic about _not_ being Gosunkugi's girlfriend, but they are spending a lot of time with each other. Also see Gosunkugi's entry. -- Other characters Noori Tanya/Tanya Nory (16): Carries a grudge against Hibiki Ryouga for accidentally distracting her during one of her fights and losing as a result, back at the UWSMA Dojo a few years ago. She is somewhat singleminded and rather ruthless. Fights with chimney-sweep brushes and chemicals. She is currently being chased by Konatsu. She has, however, put up enough with him to allow him to be her assistant in her airduct cleaning business. She and Muhoshin Megane dated briefly, but seems like there's a bit of bad blood between them now. Also see Ryouga's entry. (character by Mihoshi, first seen in TPOH Side Story 1: One Thing Leads to Another) -- Crossover characters of importance--these belong to...someone. Lord of the Shadoloo (M. Bison or Vega, depending on where you are): (Street Fighter II etc.) For a short period near the end of TMTC, he had Ryo as his agent in Tokyo. King: (from Art of Fighting/King of Fighters, SNK/Neo Geo) She is the proprietress of King's of Nerima, a classy restaurant/bar. Hires Akari, Ryoko, and Megane (initially because of their inability to pay off debts related to a damage inflicted by Katsunishiki, a bad credit card under the name of Ryo Muhoshin, and another bad credit card under the same name, respectively). Familiar with the fighting tourney circles around here (_not_ the sponsor of the King of Nerima tourney--sorry about that). -- Further notes on Ryouga-(Ranma) parallels Love interests: Ukyou (Akane), Kodachi (the same), Shampoo (same, temporarily), Ryoko (Ukyou), Manami (?), Akari (?) Enemies: Kunou (the same), Ryo (Ryouga), Tsubasa (same, powered up), Gosunkugi (same, temporarily over Ukyou, powered up), Tanya (Ryouga again), Konatsu (over that fake engagement with Tanya), possibly Kodachi? (Ryouga-chan stuff)
