Prof. Arthur Kleinmen
Arthur Kleinman is a physician and Professor of Medical Anthropology in Global Health and Social Medicine as well as Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, well-known at the College as a co-teacher (with Paul Farmer) of Societies of the World 25. Professor Kleinman is renowned for his cross-cultural research, particularly in Asia, and taught Harvard’s first course in medical anthropology in 1973. His current projects include separate volumes on caregiving, mental illness in Africa, and social suffering.
