October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Harvard Cancer Society held its first Breast Cancer Awareness Week this year, hosting a series of events designed to educate the community about breast cancer and to fundraise for breast cancer research.
VALENTINE'S DAY DATE AUCTION
February 7, 2008
February 2008 marks the 3rd annual HCS Date AUction. Instead of auctioning off prized items, however, we auctioned off Harvard student volunteers to their peers! The highest bidder on each auctionee won a Valentine's Day date with him or her. HCS has raised over $4,000 for the American Cancer Society through its auctions. Thank you to our student volunteers and bidders.

ALL UNIVERSITY RELAY FOR LIFE

Relay for Life is an annual overnight walkathon which raises money for the American Cancer Society's programs in cancer research, awareness, and advocacy. The Harvard Cancer Society works in conjunction with the American Cancer Society and Boston area universities, as well as with cancer survivors and their families. Relay is a powerful way to help fight cancer and to honor friends and family who have lost their lives to cancer.
SPRING COLLOQUIUM
In April 2007, the Harvard Cancer Society hosted its first Colloquium on "Nutrition and Cancer," featuring Harvard Professor Dr. Walter Willett.
On April 15, 2008, Dr. Jay Loeffler, Chief of Radiation Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital will speak about proton therapy. Details forthcoming.

Join HCS in hosting the first Harvard College dance marathon in recent memory.
Co-sponsored by the Harvard Pre-medical Society, HCDM2008 is a 12 hour, overnight event to benefit the Jimmy Fund and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
