12/06/2004: "Dumplings Update!"
Hello all,
Thank goodness it didn't snow on Saturday morning! =) With a grand total of a dozen families, Dumplings was yet another success.
Click [More] to read about what we learned! Also, read on for upcoming playgroup dates; mark your calendars!
Our theme this past weekend was Chinese Art (more specifically, traditional Chinese painting). We started the day with Musical Chairs, then we talked about what made Chinese paintings special as we looked at many examples in books. Finally, everyone got to recreate their own Chinese artistic masterpiece with watercolors! There are a number of artists in the group, as you can see from our pictures-- yes, pictures are up! Thanks to Adam, photographer for the day.
The next Dumplings playgroup will be in two weeks, on Saturday, Dec. 18. After that playgroup, we will not meet for another few weeks, due to the holidays. Harvard College schedules final exams after winter break (in January) so we may or may not hold Dumplings in January, depending on the study/exam schedules of our volunteers. If not in January, however, Dumplings will definitely resume the first Saturday after class beings, Saturday, Feb. 5. We will keep you posted!
Lastly, it is time for change, for things to be made anew, for the torch to be passed on, etcetc... Starting the next semester, Dumplings will be co-coordinated by Penny Fang and Eva Liu, two lovely freshmen with bright new ideas and much enthusiasm for this group! They will take over this mailing list, and be the new points of contact for the Dumplings playgroup. I will still be at the playgroups, and hope to keep seeing many of you return next semester!
Have a wonderful, (not-too) snowy week, and see you on the 18th!
Best,
Jessica
