Halloween Fundraiser

Every year on Halloween Day, a team of around thirty Harvard volunteers parade the surrounding Cambridge area in full costume, “trick-or-treating” for donations and raising awareness about Harvard China Care and its mission. In the past, this fundraiser has raised funds both for single-child surgeries as well as for larger projects such as the opening of the Baoji Children’s Home. To date, we have raised more than $5,500 over five Halloweens.

Past Halloween Fundraisers:

2009: Over $475 was raised for an infant from Inner Mongolia with club feet, who needed to undergo tenotomy to lengthen and correct the tendon in his foot. Unfortunately, this was not enough to fund the $1500 procedure. We will continue to support him through other fundraisers.

2008: We raised over $800 in one afternoon! All funds went to support the Baoji Children’s Home in Shanxi province.

Surgery Updates

YiXuan's Successful Spinal Bifida Surgery

YiXuan was suffering from Spina Bifida, a condition caused by the incomplete closing of the embryonic neural tube. She had a successful spina bifida surgery in the late spring of 2012. After recovering for 2 months at the China Care Home, she went back to her home institution. Thank you for making a difference in her life!
