In January 2004, fifteen lovely young girls and their parents gathered to learn about Chinese New Year, make traditional red gift packets, and play games. Dumplings was formed!
Dumplings brings together children adopted from China and their families to learn about and share Chinese culture in a fun, interactive way. A typical playgroup includes storytime, a game, a crafts project, and more. Besides Chinese New Year, past playgroup themes include pandas, Beijing, and the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. We also invite other student groups, such as the Chinese Yo-Yo Club and the Asian American Dance Troupe, to guest perform and teach.
Children of all ages are welcome, though most of our girls are between ages 4 and 9. We do not plan activities for children under 3, but they are welcome to come play with the other kids. Parents are encouraged to stay to meet other adoptive parents. Please RSVP in advance so we know how many to expect!
