Guo Yanfei's old foster home is in the rural village of Saiqi, Fujian province (in southern China). About 30 children live there still, in a dilapidated house with an elderly caretaker . Many of them need of surgery. They have rarely been outside.

guo yanfei is 7 years old and lives in a foster home in Saiqi. Her adoptive father died last year, leaving her alone with her adoptive mother. After she fainted in school one day, doctors found a hole in her heart. Yanfei needs immediate surgery, but her family does not have the US$5000 needed to save her life.

October 31, 2004: On Halloween, volunteers went "trick or treating" to raise money for Guo Yanfei's surgery. Thanks to the generosity of the Cambridge community, we collected over $1500, which combined with other funds, gave us $5000—exactly the amount needed.
Our friends at the orphanage in China were delighted: "I know her mother will be very grateful....
What you guys did just means so much to them. (you can not imagine!!)"
