Saiqi Orphanage, in Fujian Province, is urgently in need of a new building. Their present home, a decrepit 2-story building, provides little light and little space for the 34 children whose ages range from a few months to 25 years old. While many of the school-going children are healthy, a significant portion of the younger ones suffer from a wide range of disabilities including cerebral palsy, mental handicaps, blindness, and deafness.

Because their present building is so unsuited for children, the orphanage has temporarily moved to a church. But they cannot stay there permanently, and a new home—with the adaptations necessary for handicapped children—is needed as soon as possible.

The cost of a new building amount to US$100,000. Additional expenses will be needed for internal furnishings, many of which must be specially designed to accommodate disabled children. As their primary sponsor, Harvard China Care must provide a significant portion of the funds, but in order to do so, we will need all the help we can get!

Harvard China Care's volunteers will be trick-or-treating in the neighborhood of Newton, MA, this Halloween to help raise the building cost. Every dollar will make a difference in the lives of these children, and we sincerely hope you will make a donation to this worthwhile cause.

If you do not live in Newton, but would still like to donate, you can send us a check or money order, or donate online via PayPal.
